Blue Devil Damsel

Brilliant azure coloring and bold personality make the Blue Devil Damsel a striking addition to established reef systems. Native to the Indo-Pacific—from the Kii Peninsula through India and across the Western Pacific—this species thrives in shallow coral environments where it displays natural territorial behavior. Sexing is straightforward: males sport vibrant blue tails, while females display clear or translucent tail fins. Males are notably aggressive and will defend their chosen territory with intensity, making them best suited for experienced aquarists with adequate space and compatible tank mates. Hardy and adaptable, Blue Devil Damsels are excellent for reef aquariums with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces. Their dynamic presence and striking coloration reward careful placement and thoughtful community planning.
