Lawnmower Blenny

The Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus) is a hardy, reef-safe algae grazer that reaches 4-5 inches and thrives in established tanks with abundant algae growth. This Indo-Pacific native features mottled brown coloring and exceptional jumping ability, requiring a secure lid. While peaceful with most fish, they may show territorial aggression toward other blennies and similar species in confined spaces. Feed spirulina, marine algae, and seaweed-based foods multiple times daily to supplement natural grazing. With proper care, they live several years and make excellent additions to reef environments seeking natural algae control.
