The Neopoma Damsel is a vibrant, hardy addition to established reef systems, prized for its striking coloration and active personality. These small but spirited fish thrive in tanks with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces, where they can establish territory and patrol their domain. Care Requirements: Maintain stable water conditions with temperatures between 72–78°F and a pH of 8.1–8.3. Provide moderate to strong water flow and excellent filtration to support their energetic nature. Feed a varied diet of high-quality marine flakes, pellets, and occasional frozen foods like mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. Temperament & Compatibility: Damsels are known for their bold, sometimes aggressive behavior—especially as they mature. They do best in reef environments with established territories and may harass smaller or more docile fish. Pair them with similarly robust species and monitor interactions closely during acclimation. Tank Setup: A minimum 30-gallon aquarium is recommended, though larger systems allow for more stable water chemistry and reduced territorial stress. Include plenty of live rock for grazing and refuge, along with moderate to strong lighting to support any coral companions. Feeding & Nutrition: These opportunistic feeders will consume most prepared foods but benefit from a rotating diet that includes spirulina-based foods, quality pellets, and frozen proteins to maintain vibrant coloration and long-term health. Sourced and quarantined with care to ensure you receive a healthy, acclimated specimen ready to thrive in your reef.
