Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs (Paguristes cadenati) are hardy, peaceful reef scavengers prized for consuming algae, detritus, and nuisance cyanobacteria. Recognizable by their bright red legs and yellow face, these active crabs grow to just 1.5 inches and thrive in established reef systems. They'll consume algae, fish food, and invertebrate diets—supplement with dried seaweed if algae is limited. Provide empty shells for molting and maintain stable water parameters free of copper-based treatments and predators.
